The Best Food Trucks in Phoenix!

For 2 full days, every early spring, the Salt River Fields in Scottsdale, Arizona are graced with the best food trucks from around the area at the Street Eats Food Truck Festival! How does an event like this happen, you may ask? Well, this past year, February 8 and 9, 2020, over fifty-five food trucks lineup and allow you to go around and eat a full meal or just a taste from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. (1). General admission is $12 and a VIP ticket, which includes 5 beverages, four food tokens and a VIP lounge, is $75 (2). Once you enter this delectable festival, you have the ability to browse the various street eats. Each menu contains a $2 sample of some menu item (1). When I attended, I did a lap of all my options and tried the $2 treats at several trucks including a barbecue one, pizza place, and ice cream cookie truck. You can use cash or card at this event to purchase your food and drinks. To check out this past year’s food truck lineup click here. The Scookie Bar and Waffle Crush are two of my personal favorite trucks, but that could be because of my sweet tooth.

How far away is the food truck festival? Located at Salt River Fields, right off the Loop 101 and Talking Stick Way, it is only a 15 to 20-minute drive from ASU’s Tempe Campus (Google Maps). If you decide to drive, there is free and convenient parking right next to the festival (4). If Ubering is your preferred mode of transportation, it costs approximately $25.
What else is there to do at the food truck festival besides eat? There are several other festivities that the food truck patrons can partake in. One option is a Food Eating Contest (3)! Each day, there are 4 different challenges to test your eating abilities (3). They include a watermelon eating contest, donut eating contest, pie eating contest, and jello spoon feeding contest (3).

There is also an assortment of lawn games provided like giant jenga, giant yard pong and cornhole (3). And let’s not forget about the live music (3)! Throughout the day different live acts will play some tunes for the foodies to enjoy. And finally, there are a variety of local vendors on site allowing you shop til you drop, or at least enter a food coma. I always enjoyed the different activities offered because it allowed me to hang out with my friends and digest my food until I was ready for more.
