Grab that junk and put it in your trunk!

Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market is an assortment of vintage, handmade, and quirky objects sold by small businesses. Originated in 2011 by friends Lindsey Holt and Coley Arnold, Junk in the Trunk has expanded from a small backyard market of 23 vendors to a take over of the West World warehouse for a three-day event with 600 small businesses (1), (2). In the mood for “all things chippy, rusty, vintage and handmade?” (1). Then Junk in the Trunk is the place for you to be!
Junk in the Trunk is located at West World of Scottsdale, approximately a 30-minute drive from ASU’s Tempe Campus (Google Maps). If you are planning on driving to the Vintage Market, make sure you have a $5 bill in your pocket because that is the charge to park your car (3). If a personal car is out of reach, it costs about $20 to Uber to West World.

Junk in the Trunk will be taking place April 24 -26, 2020 (3). Friday is from 4-9 p.m. and is a “special shopper experience” including VIP shopping and one drink (beer, wine, soda or water) as well as a Saturday and Sunday general admission ticket (3), (4). These tickets average in price of about $65 (4). There is a Saturday early admission for an additional cost of approximately $25 where shoppers get to enter the market an hour before it opens to the general public (3), (4). After all, “early birds find the best junk!” (3). Then, of course, there is the Saturday and Sunday general admission from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. where folks can spend the entire day browsing the market (3). That is what I did the two times I attended, and let me say I found some gems. I found my best friend’s birthday present from this little store that sold wooden signs with simple paintings on them, and I try to find that store every time I go. If you want a dollar discounted off your ticket, bring items like wipes, diapers or feminine care products in support of Maggie’s Place (3).
Tips for your Shopping Pleasure
There is food! West World provides dining options, and the market also brings in local food trucks for all your snacking needs (4)!
